Check Out Our Weekly Bible Studies
Sunday
9:00 a.m. Sunday School- Our Sunday School is designed for small group Bible study. We break up in four classes: middle school boys, middle school girls, high school boys, and high school girls. We are using Lifeway's KNOWN curriculum.
6:00 p.m. Encounter. Encounter is designed to offer a unique worship experience for people of all ages to encounter God like they never have before. We want students and adults to have an opportunity for AUTHENTIC worship, REAL truth, and GENUINE connections with others. Encounter also provide daily devotionals to carry the theme from the service into every day life.
Wednesday
7:00 p.m. TRANSFORM- Our Wednesday evening Bible study is for all students. We want to teach students live a transformed life and to not conform to what the people around them encourage them to do. Students are encouraged to come to all services, but this is the one for students to invite new friends. We put a lot of time and practice into our TRANSFORM services. There is a youth band which practice every Sunday night and Wednesday before the service starts. We have a quick game, funny video, annoucement, Take 5 for the Cause, youth led worship, and a message. Our Bible study is an expansion from the Sunday morning KNOWN material, but is very applicable for all ages and all spiritual maturities.
Take 5 for the Casue is the portion of our service where we hear from students about friends whom they are sharing Christ with. We look for the happy ending stories as well as the struggles. After the tersimony, we have a college student share a quick tip of the week on sharing your faith. We want to remind student every week the importance of sharing their faith and let them hear from their peers who are actually doing it!
KNOWN Student Philosophy
The KNOWN cirriculum we are using on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights is much more than just a curriculum. It as an all encompasing student ministry philosophy. For us, it centers on training students to gloify God. After all, that is what God put us here to do. They do that by learning to KNOW their faith, OWN their faith, and make their faith KNOWN. Not only do we teach these philosophies through Bible study, but we also put them in to practice in our outreach events and service projects. For more information, free downloads, and to listen to some helpful podcasts, check out the KNOWN website.
KNOWN Parent Philosphy
The KNOWN student ministry philosophy asks parents to take a more active role in the spiritual development of their children. There is a growing epidemic in our culture that says we leave this area to the church because as parents, we are already busy enough. At Northland, we want to challenge parents to SLOW DOWN. We want you to ask yourself, "Of all the things my teenager and I do, which ones are really going to make a big difference in the long run?" We truly believe that the most important thing you can do for your children is to focus on their spiritual development. As a result, our ministry focuses on equipping you to do this work in your child's life. We have weekly bulletin inserts with the Sunday School and Wednesday night lessons along with discussion questions. This insert also includes announcements on upcoming youth events so parents are always informed on what is happening. We also have monthly parent meetings where we go over any upcoming events, spend time discussing the youth Sunday school lessons for the month, and pray together for our students. Finally, we host various Bible studies and conferences throughout the year in an effort to help you raise your kids to be solid Christian men and women. Parents, you have to check out the podcasts avaliable at the KNOWN website.

There will only 2 teams that come out on top (1 middle school team and 1 high school team) will it be yours? Oh yeah, and pizza, basketball, volleyball, batting cages, and lots of other cool stuff. Please make sure you download the flyer/permission and fill it out before you come. Every MUST HAVE a permission slip. Hope to see you there!
June 11-19: Mission Trip to Matamoros, Mexico. We are going to the same place as we did last year to do pretty much the same things. If you are new to this here is a quick run down of what we do:
June 11: Leave for San Antonio and stay in a hotel near the River Walk
June 12: Drive into Mexico and stay in Mexico
June 13-17: Ministry in Mexico, we never leave the country during this time unless absolutely necessary
June 18: Spend the morning at South Padre Island and then Drive to Austin TX and stay in a hotel
June 19: Arrive Home
While in Mexico we will be staying in a decent part of town in a large house they have converted into a church. There are several bedrooms they have put bunk beds in for groups to stay. The house has a 6 foot concrete wall all the way around it with a gated driveway that locks. The house is VERY safe in a quiet neighborhood. Why does it a need such a barrier you ask? Well that is pretty typical down there, all of the nicer homes have walls around them. It is really close to a large shopping mall with a big food court where we will eat dinner most nights.
We will drive about 15 minutes to a small dirt road community with no running water and little electricity to do our ministry. We will be doing a VBS, neighborhood outreach, work on the pastors house, and helping the adult team put a roof on the second story of the church. This community is very poor and in a great need. I know for those who went last year, this was a VERY humbling experience.
All students entering the 8th grade next year are welcome to come on this trip without parents. I know this trip was a life changing experience for most who went last year and I pray it can do the same thing this year. I know there is certainly a buzz in the youth group about this mission trip unlike any other trip I have ever lead. Your students are very excited about this opportunity.
The cost for this trip is $280. If that is a problem, please talk to me, we want your student to be able to participate. If you would be interested in sponsoring a student on this trip, would you please let me know. Students 16 years and old are required to have a passport or passport card when traveling by land to Mexico. Students 15 years or younger can use a birth certificate (original or copy) instead of getting a passport. You can get more information about all of this at the state department website.
We have several meetings planned in the next few months. All of which are mandatory unless you have a really good excuse! It is very important that the team show up for the meetings so they know what is going on, help in planning, get trained, etc..
April 11th @ 4:30 pm- Parent's Meeting: this will be an informational meeting when you can ask all the questions you have, fill out forms, sign the covenant etc... You are certainly welcome to ask anything before this meeting. We will go over rules, dress code, and schedule. I would like parents and students and any other YOUTH trip participants to come to this meeting. There will be $50 deposit due on this day as well. I will also ask you to turn in your covenants and permission slips.
April 25th @ 4:30- Planning meeting: We will plan details for VBS, work on music, games, and some language training. I need ALL Youth team participants at this meeting. Parents are welcome to attend, but certainly not expected to come to this meeting or any future meetings. I only NEED parents on April 11th and May 23rd.
May 10th @ 9 am- This will be with the youth and adult teams meeting together for language, culture, and evangelism training. This will hosted by our church's missions committee.
May 23rd @ 4:30 pm- Planning meeting: We will plan details for VBS, work on music, games, and some language training. I also NEED PARENTS on this meeting to wrap up details and take care of some "surprises" for the kids. It is very important you are at this meeting.
June 6th @ 4:30- Planning meeting: We will plan details for VBS, work on music, games, and some language training. We may cancel this event if we get to the point we don't need it.
You can RSVP on the facbook event page. You can also click each to get the permission slip, packing list, flyer JPEG, and covenant. Please wait to sign the covenant until we sign them all togeher on April 11th.
